The team used various data gathering tools and techniques in obtaining such data and information. They researched on the internet, read some books and other printed materials pertaining to the focus study. They also looked for resource speakers who shared information about the festival. They conducted interviews with different personalities for the audience of this blog to better understand the topic.
The following summarizes the timeline of activities towards the completion of this humble work:
Last week of july
Mr. Anthony Capistrano, our media arts teacher asked us to join the DPSA – Ano ang Kwento Mo? contest. We accepted the task, formed a group and assigned responsibilities to every member. Then Sir Capistrano, the school DPSA moderator, oriented us on the guidelines and important details of the contest. He also had a series of lectures on Culture and Heritage Preservation and shared to us his knowledge about cultural mapping.
AUGUST, 2011
First Week of August
The next task was to choose a focus study. The team had a session of brainstorming on what we can feature about the town of Vinzons. There were several suggestions but we decided to also look at the possibility of featuring nearby towns, its within the province anyway and not all students in the group came from Vinzons, 4 are from Vinzons, 2 are from Labo and 1 from Daet. In the end, the group decided to concentrate on Busig-on festival, just in time for its annual celebration during the month of Septeber.
Second Week of August
Jonerec Cereno, the team’s leader coordinated with the Municipal Tourism Officer of Labo to obtain information regarding the celebration of the Busig-on Festival.
Then Aila Manlangit, the head researcher of the group, obtained a copy of Busig-on epic. All members of the group were given copies of the epic. They were given 2-3 weeks to finish reading the epic.
Last week of August
The team registered in the smart school’s competition. A meeting that finalized the details of the data gathering methodology was scheduled. Researchers and other members were asked to go to different offices to gather data, asked for appointment for the interviews needed while the technical team were asked to form a group discussion/brainstorming on how they can take better pictures and videos. They also started gathering ideas on the design and layout of the blog.
SEPTEMBER, 2011
First week of September
Foreseen problems and difficulties were given solutions and fixes so the team started monitoring the events in the festival. The team went to Labo for the shots and interviews needed in the study.
Third Week of September
Researchers started writing the final draft of the write up. After the scripts were finalized, the technical team obtained the copy of the final script for the story board. The technical team started working on the photos and videos they need. Some printed materials were scanned and photos taken were transferred to computers for editing. Then they used photoshop, paint and photoscape to edit their pictures while they used ulead and movie maker in editing videos. They asked for the assistance of their classmate who is enrolled in visual arts class of Mr. Rhande Ted for the illustrations in their blog.
OCTOBER, 2011
Initial work and plans were presented to the advisers for critiquing. Sir Alfonso Mendoza and Ma’am Emy Gatongay gave comments to further improve their work.
After the critiquing, the team obtained more information through interviews and internet researches. Then they started dubbing and editing their entry. Mrs. Excelsa F. Buan, an ICT teacher was asked for her opinion on the blog that they made. She was also asked for opinion about their output. Throughout the conduct of the study, Mr. Capistrano, their coach was always present to guide them in the process
